the fighting except for these cornbat  areas where power lines and water
       rnains were torn down or disrupted by the fighting.

                        The total results of the enernyrs Tet offensive in Qui-
       Nhon city were as follows. :
                        Enerny :  II0  killed,  including provincial  cornrnissar
       Bien Cuong and a battalion  cornrnander; 57 captured including  Lieutenant
       Nguyen, political cornrnissar of the enerny sapper battalion, and I29
       weapons  seized, including nine crew served weapons.  Those captured
       also included  a nurnber of suspects and pro-Cornrnunist agents.
                       Friendly  :  l7 killed,  including three Arnerican  officers
       and four enlisted  rnen; 64 wounded and 38 weapons lost, including two
       crew s e rved weapons.
                        Public property darnage included the Inforrnation  O{fice,
       the radio station, the Arrny Security Service cornpound, two police
       jeeps, two arrnored vehicles two rnilitary. trucks and the 1:irtual des-
       truction of the railroad stationrs  workshop.

                        Civilian property darnage included  rnoderate darnage to
       Il0  houses in Huyen TranHarnlet, nine in Nguyen Cong TruHarnlet  and
       45 in Bach Dang tr{arnlet.  Civilian casualties throughout the Binh Dinh
       province were 129 killedand 116 wounded, About half of these civilian
       casualties  were frorn Qui Nhon city.
                       The o{fensive caused a total of 16,016 refugees to be
       displaced frorn their hornes and villages into safer governrnent-
       controlled  areas.

                          B.  ENEMY OFFENSIVE  ON DISTRICT TOWNS


                       Besides  Qui Nhon city a nurnber of district towng such
       as An Nhon and Tuy Phuoc were assaulted by the enerny.

                       An estirnated  enemy cornpany atternpted to assault An
       Nhon on the rnorning of Feb 2 or the fourth day of Tet. They suffered
       sixty ki1led and lost eleven weapons,  including one anti-aircraft
       rnachinegun.  This result was obtained by the districtrs newly reinfor-
       ced rnilitia garrison, supported by airstrikes.  Most of the enerny
       casualties were credited to airstrikes.

                       In Loc Ha Harnlet, just outside Tuy Phuoc district town,
       a Regional Force unit engaged the enerny and killed 45 of thern and
       seized eight as s orted weapons.
